Last year, the Spanish designer José María’s “Insects” project was chosen by LEGO for a commercial release. Now, the eagerly anticipated set is almost ready to make its debut: LEGO Ideas 21342 The Insect Collection. This impressive 1111-piece set is rumored to launch on September 4, 2023, and will be available in the LEGO Shop for $/€79.99 (opens the shop of your country).

This collection allows you to build five different insects in LEGO form: the Morpho menelaus butterfly, the Hercules beetle, the Asian ladybug, the Western honeybee, and a Praying Mantis. Notably, LEGO Ideas 21342 The Insect Collection deviates from the original design by ensuring that the insects are all built to accurate scale proportions. This means that, for example, the bee will be smaller than the butterfly, a departure from the identical sizing of the initial concept.
